What is a Slot?

A slot is an area in a machine into which coins or other items are inserted. Slots may also refer to a specific casino game or a machine that displays multiple reels with symbols that spin to arrange combinations. Some slot machines also include a bonus feature that allows players to win additional prizes.

A player inserts cash or, in ticket-in, ticket-out machines, a paper ticket with a barcode into the designated slot on a machine to activate it.
